Truther

Truthers or 9-11 Truthers believe that the September 11, 2001 attacks were carried out by, or at least known to U.S. Government officials who allowed them to happen in order to cause a war.

According to a 2007 Zogby poll, liberals are more inclined to believe that the U.S. government was not only aware of the impending 9/11 attacks, but let them be carried out.[1]

The Truther movement has aggressively sought signatures on its petitions calling for another Congressional investigation. Signing one of these petitions caused the political suicide of Van Jones, who was fired from his White House position in September 2009.

One paleoconservative Truther is Alex Jones, who argues that 9/11 was pulled off by traitors inside the United States Government—especially "New World Order" advocates, aided by various other politicians and high-ranking military officials from several other countries. Other prominet 9/11 Truthers are Hollywood filmmaker Michael Moore, Obama White House appointee Van Jones, and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Public opinion polls show that Truthers are young, poorly educated, and non-white; they seldom attend church.[1]
