Ubuntu Christian Edition is a distribution of the Linux operating system which was been especially designed for Christians. It is open source and offered free of charge for both private and commercial purposes, like other Linux systems.[1]

Details

Ubuntu Christian Edition is based on the standard Ubuntu distribution version 12.04.1 (a.k.a. Precise Pangolin). It has been modified somewhat from that release, and now contains extra Christian software as well as a few additional tools to make transitioning to Ubuntu easier for those who are new to it. The graphical changes are minor and are only intended to tailor the project to Christians.[2]

Features

  • Ubuntu Christian Edition is available in both 32-bit and 64-bit
  • Includes standard programs, including spreadsheet and word processors
  • Includes what the project describes as "the best" christian software available, including Xiphos, OpenLP, and Quelea.
  • Parental Controls from Dansguardian which uses a firewall style filter
  • Supports Wine[3]
