United States presidential election, 1840

The election of 1840 was the first one to occur after an economic depression. Martin Van Buren was largely blamed for the disaster. William Henry Harrison was a popular candidate. This election was the first too have a slogan; "Tippecannoe and Tyler Too." Another symbol in the election was "hard cider vs. british tea". It was rumored that Buren liked British tea better than American hard cider. The results of the election were:

This was the first election to happen after the alleged "curse of zero". Harrison died after only a month in office.
