United States presidential election, 1860
From Conservapedia
The 1860 election was hotly divided between North and South over the issue of slavery. The Republican party nominated the Southern-hated, Abraham Lincoln. The south was divided in it's choice for a candidate. The Democrats split up and another party called the Constitutional Union all put up candidates for the presidency. No southerner voted for Lincoln. The results showed:
| candidates | popular vote | electoral vote |
|---|---|---|
| Abraham Lincoln | 1, 865, 593 | 180 |
| John C. Breckenridge | 848, 356 | 72 |
| Stephen A. Douglas | 1, 848, 593 | 12 |
| John Bell | 592, 906 | 39 |
