United States presidential election, 1872
From Conservapedia
The Democratic party and liberal Republicans were angered with Ulysses Grant's seeming lack of skill in politics. To oppose him they nominated Horace Greely as their candidate. The election was bitter and tiring for both candidates. Unfortunately, Greely died during the campaign and thus didn't receive any of the electoral votes. [1]
