United States presidential election, 1884
From Conservapedia
The 1884 campaign was possibly the most infamous Presidential election to ever happen in the history of the United States. The Democrats chose popular, honest Grover Cleveland as their candidate, while Republicans nominated Maine congressman, James G. Blaine. Both men though had certain scandals. Grover Cleveland fathered (to his own confession) an illegitimate child. James Blaine was involved in many corrupt bribes. They attacked each other fiercely, although Cleveland did not wish to have part in slandering his opponent. [1]
