I'm a Catholic who considers myself a conservative, but I don't agree with many of the litmus tests here for what makes one a "true" conservative. I'm willing to help out here in non-controversial ways, and see how it goes. --ChrisY 09:24, 19 December 2009 (EST)

Thoughts on the Conservative Bible Project

For the record, I have issues with some of the decisions made in the Conservative Bible Project, but it's more important to stand up for the rights of people to express their freedom of religion and freedom of speech than to get caught up disagreeing over how they do it. I'll also support the right of anyone to criticize the project in a reasonable, civil manner, but not to vandalize it. I've decided that while I don't want to have any part in declaring parts of the Bible to be properly "conservative enough", I can help make sure that what is revised has good English grammar and accurate spelling, and I encourage others to do the same. --ChrisY 21:37, 10 January 2010 (EST)

Thoughts on Pascal's Wager

I've had discussions with people about Pascal's Wager, and how it's an invalid proposition for this reason or that reason. They make good points based on pure logic, but my own take on it is this: if I live my life as a good Christian and stick to the basic lessons taught by Jesus, then if God exists I've done what I was supposed to do and all is well. If God doesn't exist, then I've still lived a life based on good, moral values, helped others along the way, and tried to set a good example with my behavior rather than judging others in arrogance. How, then, can this be the kind of life any man would regret living? --ChrisY 18:06, 18 January 2010 (EST)

Status Update

I've noticed that when some accounts are inactive for too long they might be reclassified as "on vacation" or "retired", so I thought I'd clarify my status to avoid any misunderstandings. The good news for me is that I've picked up additional consulting work on top of my regular engagement, which in this economy is really something to be thankful for. This doesn't leave much free time for editing here, but I hope to get back to working on the Conservative Bible Project as time permits. My commitment is to work on it until it's done, and I'll be back to Exodus or whatever other sections need assistance as soon as this extra assignment wraps up. --ChrisY 19:33, 18 June 2010 (EDT)
