Me, Myself, and Eyes

Well, to begin on a good footing, i'm going to state here and now that I am proud to be a geek in the military.

Now that's out of the way, let's get to the fun stuff. I prefer to call myself a humanist rather than a conservative or liberal. Some sacrifices can be made, as long as they lead to the greater benefit of the people. So, yes, the ends sometimes can justify the means.

One big thing with me...the absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence. So, just because Evolution or Science hasn't found it yet, doesn't mean it's not there. That's my stance on the subject.

Preferences

As stated above, I watch cartoons. Yes, cartoons. A lot of adults do it! <.< >.>

Well, I have a special place in my heart for Japanese animation mostly. Films like Akira and Vampire Hunter D were some of my first experiences with the form, and after that I just began to watch more.

As for other pastimes, I enjoy reading, a lot. I also tend to write, from time to time when my writer's block lets up.

Video Games, Video Games, Video Games. I believe that Penny Arcade did the right thing by paying for Jack Thompson's bill.

Guns, Religion, and Politics

Alright now...Some things.

1.) I really wish this place would stop pushing gun control as it was the Judgement Day, with the Conservatives and Liberals substituting for Heaven and Hell. Seriously, some positions here are freaking insane. The rottweiler debate was, among others, one of the most amusing debates. Using a gun to shoot a dog attacking a child is like using a sledgehammer to drive a roofing nail. Anything over a .22 would have probably penetrated the dog and harmed the child. Guns are like words or beliefs, in saying that we must be careful how they are used. Such a careless act would only help the Gun Control issue.

2.) I've practiced faiths. I've known priests and preachers, hucksters and cons. The only faith I would follow is one that wouldn't destroy other faiths blindly. About the only tone i've seen that doesn't is Buddhism, and that isn't a religion more than it is a set of practices and beliefs. So, I simply believe that every person deserves to be able to believe what you will, as long as you don't try to press your belief on me.

And i'm in the Jehova's Witness Protection Plan. Since I never saw his crime, I can't be a witness.

3.) Politics is simple. Ask not what you can do for your country, or what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your fellow man's happiness. Do what you can to aid your fellow man, and aid his pursuit in happiness.

Stem Cell Research: Aids the fellow man by providing cures. Science: Aids the fellow man by creating progress. Art: Aids the fellow man by expanding his spirit.

Religion: Aids the fellow man by providing guidance, and sometimes happiness.

But, if misused, all of these can cause indescribable pain and torment. It is our duty to be responsible with what we have.

Other things about me

That's about it. I'll add more later.
