I am a physician in the practice of psychiatric medicine, but the things that really define him are his family and his Christian faith.
I live in Mountain Brook, Alabama with Deborah, his wife of 18 years. He is a member of Cahaba Fellowship and is active in medical missions to Africa, and he is a member of Gideons International, which distributes free Bibles worldwide.
I am a lifelong Republican, a member of Physicians for Life and a member of the President’s Club of the Republican National Committee.
I am a Christian conservative who believes in traditional values, he strongly supports a pro-life amendment to the U.S. Constitution banning abortion and a pro-marriage amendment stating that marriage is between a man and a woman only. He is against raising taxes and for reducing government spending. He is pro-business and is in favor of tort reform to reduce frivolous lawsuits.
Main Campaign Issues
The War in Iraq
There should be no debate, we need to win the war in Iraq. We have never had adequate troop strength in Iraq to truly stabilize Iraq and finally win the war. We won the Gulf War by using the Powell Doctrine of overwhelming force, with 650,000 coalition troops. In Iraq we have less than a fourth of that number of soldiers and we wonder why things aren’t going well in Iraq. If we get 100,000-200,000 more boots on the ground, like the wise General Shinseki wanted, we can finally secure Iraq and win the war.
Illegal Immigration
Illegal immigration hurts our economy and strains our public services. Amnesty is not the answer, nor are guest workers. President Eisenhower, who my grandfather served with on the Joint Chiefs of staff, knew this. President Eisenhower deported over 80,000 illegal aliens in about a year. I will follow his example and deport illegal aliens, build a fence and allow border patrol agents to stop anyone trying to enter our country illegally.
Pro Life
As a Christian conservative I know abortion is wrong. I am pro life and a member of Physicians for Life. Not only will I fight to get Roe v. Wade overturned, I will fight to pass an amendment protecting all human life.
Gay Marriage
Gay marriage is wrong. Not even Sodom and Gomorrah had the nerve to call the homosexual relationship "marriage" and look what happened to them. I will fight for passage of the Federal Marriage Amendment.
Taxes

Protecting our Second Amendment Rights
I fully support legal gun ownership and our Second Amendment right to bear arms. Gun control does not work.
Government Spending
Government spending is out of control, even Republicans, many of whom are running for President, are spending like a bunch of drunken Democrats. I will fight for a line-item veto, a balanced budget amendment and put an end to pork barrel projects.
Traditional Values
Our nation was founded on Judeo-Christian values, let’s preserve those values. America’s values should be reflected by those Americans elect, not by activist judges.
National Security
Stopping the illegal alien invasion of our country is job one. Let’s deport illegal aliens, build a fence and allow border patrol agents to stop anyone trying to enter our country illegally. Additionally, we have to recognize the threats of al-Qaeda, Iran and North Korea and win peace through strength by always having a strong military and the will to use it.
Social Security
Our promise to those in the system and soon to enter it must be kept. For the rest of us, we should be given the option of private retirement accounts. Australia, Sweden, Chile and Britain all have private retirement accounts, why can’t Americans?
Health Care
Competition in health care will bring down costs just as competition brings down costs for everything we buy. Expanding health savings accounts will provide for more competition. We should also use America’s influence to foreign governments to stop subsidizing drug costs at the expense of Americans.
Education
For years government’s answer to the education crisis in America has been to throw money at the problem. It doesn’t work. The public education monopoly has failed. Parents should be permitted to choose what schools their children attend by allowing educational vouchers.
