Welcome!

Hello, Colest, and welcome to Conservapedia!

We're glad you are here to edit. We ask that you read our Editor's Guide before you edit.

At the right are some useful links for you. You can include these links on your user page by putting "{{Useful links}}" on the page. Any questions--ask!

Thanks for reading, Colest!

If you want to add a category to an article, go to the bottom (though this is not technically required, it is, IMO, preferred) and add:

[[Category:CATEGORY_YOU_WANT]]

If you want to create a new category, go to a page, [[Category:NEW_CATEGORY_NAME]], replacing NEW_CATEGORY_NAME with the new name you want. Edit that page, summarizing.

Later, as you add [[Category:NEW_CATEGORY_NAME]] to the bottom of articles, they will automatically show up on the category page.

Does this help? HeartOfGold 09:32, 17 May 2007 (EDT)

Wow, someone posted on my talk page! :) I'm familiar with doing all that, but I was trying to get a better understanding of how subcategories work. For example, I was spending time with the articles in the Geography category yesterday and was realizing what a broad range of topics were covered.. from physical geography(mountains, volcanoes, grasslands, etc.) to countries, cities, etc. What I'd like to do is organize subgroups under Geography, so if someone is interested in learning about Geography, they can visit the category page, and then be able to more specifically hone in on what they want to read about instead of sifting through a bunch of things they don't care about. Philip J. Rayment left me a good link to the wikimedia help and it explains it a little bit, so I'm going to expirement with that some today and see what happens. I appriciate your help. :) --Colest 09:41, 17 May 2007 (EDT)
No problem. Is the correct spelling Zeus or Zues?Bohdan Talk 15:30, 21 May 2007 (EDT)
I have no idea how to do that. lol Kinda pathetic. I just upload and edit stuff. I can give you the stuff and you do it or you could show me. You chose. --Will N. 11:58, 22 May 2007 (EDT)

Ya it does.--Will N. 12:16, 22 May 2007 (EDT)

CSA Article

I'm sorry if my attempted edits of "Confederate States of America" wind up getting an article to which you were the last contributor, deleted. I have a feeling that you live in the South, as I do. --Amyz 15:27, May 23, 2007 (EDT)

Yes, I too am a transplant. I live just to the south of you -- but I went to law school in OK. And I vote for that state to be considered Southern.  ;-)--Amyz 15:39, May 23, 2007 (EDT)

LOTR

Hey, nice edit to Fellowship of the Ring. Are you interested in fantasy? I'm a big fan of Middle Earth and would "go there like a shot" if I had my druthers! But only if I could visit Narnia on the way ... --Ed Poor 12:44, 24 May 2007 (EDT)
I actually credit The Hobbit for getting me interested in reading. I've read the series three times and the thing that really gets me about it is how rich of a world he was able to create - from the languages to the very well thought out historical record. Have you had a chance to read Children of Hurin yet?
And I probably really need to give the Chronicles of Narnia another chance. I read The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe way back in middle school and liked it, but for some reason never read the other books. --Colest 12:53, 24 May 2007 (EDT)

Thanks for the explanation Colest. I hadn't really concentrated on the categories, so this is fine for now. Thanks for your help. Crocoite Talk Conservapedia:Requests for adminship#Support|Support my RfA) 12:47, 25 May 2007 (EDT)

Vasco

Thanks for taking out "traded wisely". The first source I googled said he vastly overestimated the value of the cargo he brought and had no luck trading on his first voyage. --Ed Poor 15:19, 25 May 2007 (EDT)

I tend to be very skeptical of phrases like that when they aren't sourced. --Colest 15:30, 25 May 2007 (EDT)

Thanks

My thanks to you my friend. Any time I see your name on an edit it is a pleasure because I know I don't have to worry about the content. May we both continue to make positive improvements to conservapedia. ;-) Learn together 17:18, 30 May 2007 (EDT)

Stubs

  • Forgive me for stealing your question to Ed Poor, but he has been busy working on a project. Andy doesn't much like "clutter", so that is the reason you have heard what you have about "stubs". Some articles are problematic, and others will be easy to expand. If you think something is worthy of the stub, add it. Just don't go overboard and place it on Ukrainian 17th Century Folk Dances, or the like. Conversely, if you see it on an article that, although concise, offers a clear picture of the subject, feel free to remove it, or ask a Sysop on IM or by email. Hope this helps! --Sysop-TK /MyTalk 09:23, 7 June 2007 (EDT)
Thanks for the info, I'll try to use good judgement. :) --Colest 09:25, 7 June 2007 (EDT)
  • No worries. Someone will still yell at you! :p --Sysop-TK /MyTalk 09:28, 7 June 2007 (EDT)
While I have your attention, is it appopriate for a normal user such as myself to nominate articles for deletion? --Colest 09:33, 7 June 2007 (EDT)
  • Certainly, if you can figure out the process! If you cannot, then I will need to shove you back to Ed Poor, or perhaps Philip Rayment could be of assistance there. I will note that we do prefer salvaging (if possible), or merging. --Sysop-TK /MyTalk 09:37, 7 June 2007 (EDT)

Re: images

Did you need me to unprotect the images so you can add anything? I'd be happy to do so. bd Talk 22:42, 9 June 2007 (EDT)

  • Andy requested that all images be protected to prevent vandals from changing them, or masking hidden images, is all.  ;-) --Sysop-TK /MyTalk 23:05, 9 June 2007 (EDT)
I know, I was just teasing him for being so quick about it. I understand the policy. --Colest 23:07, 9 June 2007 (EDT)

My Man Ray

Thanks for the help with the Ray Charles article, especially the picture. That original version was just...stupid. --PeteVan 10:40, 11 June 2007 (EDT)

Hey no problem. I think the original was just an attempt at subtle vandalism, but atleast it created us a stub to work from. I think I will make some mention of the movie Ray here when I get a sec (I'm at work :)). Also I like digging up photos and images so let me know if you need something and can't find it. --Colest 10:42, 11 June 2007 (EDT)

American Revolution Discussion

I commented on the discussion to merge the American Revolution pages. DeborahB. 14:18, 11 June 2007 (EDT)

Categories....

Although you have made many great contributions, it would be better to refrain from deciding, on your own, how many categories CP will have, and suggesting to others they remove them.[[1]] It could be mistaken for vandalism, bringing with it problems for another user. We would prefer you telling them to check with one of the Sysops before wholesale removal of categories. And also to post on Discussion pages before undertaking major revisions to articles. Okay?  :-) --Sysop-TK /MyTalk 19:55, 11 June 2007 (EDT)

You're right, I'm not sure why I went to the user page first. Sorry. --Colest 20:00, 11 June 2007 (EDT)
  • No problem! Glad you care enough to take the interest. --Sysop-TK /MyTalk 20:37, 11 June 2007 (EDT)

American Revolution....

  • Gotta tell you, I was liking the original one a whole lot more, before your redirect. Perhaps you would consider merging them, with more actual content? --Sysop-TK /MyTalk 22:41, 11 June 2007 (EDT)
The reason I did not include most of the information in the original American Revolution article is because it is the exact same information that you will find in the first section of Declaration of Independence, and I felt that it would be redundant to discuss the philosophical background of it in two separate articles. I'm willing to try to come to a compromise on this if you like, and perhaps add a small subsection in the Revolution article discussing the Declaration of Independence in a bit more depth, if thats acceptable to you. --Colest 09:32, 12 June 2007 (EDT)

That's all right...I realized after a few minutes that it was actually a page. And I think it's good you finalized it...I really like everything you did to it. It's a lot better now with all the information on one page, rather than two separate pages. You did a good job! DeborahB. 12:08, 12 June 2007 (EDT)

  • I'm confused with what DebroahB is talking about. RobS did move some material, it appeared to me last night. There isn't anything wrong with including a brief paragraph in Declaration on the revolution (and vice-versa), as it was part of the process, and it certainly is one of the World's most important documents. Encyclopedias are necessarily full of redundant articles, because so much of history is overlapping and touching each other, so don't be too worried about slight duplications. Rather than add a sub-section, a link, with the notation more in-depth information on the Declaration (or whatever the topic is)is there, might be better, and less cluttered. We might consider and standard template box, for all related pages in American History, on the order of the Christianity template, to ease users through the many articles. --Sysop-TK /MyTalk 18:26, 12 June 2007 (EDT)
Deborah was just responding to something I left on her talk page, but it didn't get put under a new heading when she replied here. I agree that there is a certain level of necessary redundancy, I just don't think it is necessary for both articles to have copy/pasted information in them. I sent you an email through the site, with how I would like to change the article, did you get it by chance? --Colest 18:30, 12 June 2007 (EDT)
  • I did a re-positioning of my location early this AM (fancy for travel) and am just now sorting through 50 emails from other Sysops, and of course more from editors, etc. If I don't find it, soon, will respond here. Wish me luck with this pile! --Sysop-TK /MyTalk 18:41, 12 June 2007 (EDT)
I understand, I'm getting ready to do the same way too early in the morning. Take your time. --Colest 20:48, 12 June 2007 (EDT)

Who is? --Sysop-TK /MyTalk 03:02, 14 June 2007 (EDT)

I'm not sure what you are asking. That was a user/sock/vandal/whatever that was trashing the site a day or two ago, and when DanH was blocking the others it appeared that he skipped him. (this is assuming you are referring to the message I left on his talk page?). Also you are ignoring me when I ask if you got my email or not. :) --Colest 08:27, 14 June 2007 (EDT)

I responded to you about the email. Didn't get it. Please re-send. Did you send it through here, CP? --Sysop-TK /MyTalk 20:02, 14 June 2007 (EDT)

I did. I did the carbon copy thing and received a copy to my inbox. I'll try to resend it. --Colest 20:46, 14 June 2007 (EDT)
  • Thanks! Got it. When I respond, you will have my direct email. --Sysop-TK /MyTalk 03:37, 15 June 2007 (EDT)
  • No response to my return of your email? I said it was all fine, except for one or two small changes.....--Sysop-TK /MyTalk 19:02, 28 June 2007 (EDT)
I never got it, and I just checked my spam folder to. I'll go install AIM tonight so maybe we can try and figure this out, ok? --Colest 19:06, 28 June 2007 (EDT)
Fine with me. Will be on later. Or Google Chat is good too, Yahoo or MSN, lol. If you need my screen names for those, shoot me an email via here. Thanks! --Sysop-TK /MyTalk 19:12, 28 June 2007 (EDT)

I am sorry my friend for not realizing who I was talking to. I'm afraid that entire situation was very disconcerting. You are, of course, and always have been a bright spot on conservapedia and I have been fortunate to have had the privilege to edit articles with you. Please forgive my folly. :-( Learn together 13:07, 28 June 2007 (EDT)
