Aligning in tables

I saw your edits to {{taxonomy}}. You can right-align text in Wiki-format table cells by using standard HTML code (including style="..." for CSS code) between two pipes. Anything between the first and second pipes on a line, unless the second pipe is a pair of pipes, is cell formatting. I'm not real familiar with the code so the following may not be correct, but should give you the idea:

|align="right"|text of cell

That is why, if you put two cells on the one line, you need pairs of pipes to separate them:

|text of first cell||text of second cell.

This allows for the following, if needed:

|text of first cell|align="center"|text of second cell.

Or you can do the following:

|align="right"|text of first cell|align="center"|text of second cell.

Thanks, Philip; what I keep meaning to do is add the "if" variable, but every time I sit down to do it I am distracted by something :/ The box is really neat at the moment, and I intend today to make articles for the red links (eg Subphylum). I like the appearance, color, layout etc, I just want a little more control over the fields, and possibly a choice over using binomial name where there are a huge number of species tracking from one article, if you see my drift. Have you looked at {{t row if}}? I designed it for two-column rows that are only to display if there is something to go in the second column. I used it in {{country}}. BrianCo managed to achieve the same thing without using {{t row if}} in {{president}}. Philip J. Rayment 08:14, 7 July 2007 (EDT)

The taxonomy infobox is my bugbear at the moment; as I said above, I want to bring it under more control, and allow it to be used for articles as high as order or family while still being aesthetically pleasing. Also, for the purists and botanists :) allow it to show division as a parameter. I will seek out caffeine and sit down and see what I can do... I was just reading the mssg for Brian :) I've been hacking the {{President}} to use as {{Prime Minister}} too. The taxonomy tl is fine in the Aves/birds, it can be used as high as phylum, even kingdom if we want to be exact. Fox (talk|contribs) 09:46, 10 July 2007 (EDT)
