I have a bona fide request to unlock Joe McCarthy; can we do it? Thanks. Rob Smith 14:12, 22 October 2007 (EDT)

I unlocked Joe McCarthy. Rob Smith 14:38, 22 October 2007 (EDT)

Wow, lots of edits! How do you know which articles to do what you're doing to? Does this make any sense, sorry lol! Liza 12:18, 23 October 2007 (EDT)

Nice color!

Nice new color on the main page!!! Godspeed for your efforts.--Aschlafly 14:02, 24 October 2007 (EDT)

The previous grey colour came over as a little dull to me. Jallen 21:15, 24 October 2007 (EDT)

Jallen, now that you added the "american government" and "supreme court" modules to the left panel, one has to scroll down to get to the more oft-used "search" and "edit console". Could I ask (and you may take my opinion with a grain of salt; it is your duty to decide the order of the banner) that you place the classes at the bottom, since only a few people need those anyway? Thanks in advance. HelpJazz 22:32, 29 October 2007 (EDT)

This response is a little outdated, but the AM.GOV. course will be finished soon (I think). We'll be able to remove the tab when it has officially finished and/or it is not needed. Jallen 00:21, 12 January 2008 (EST)

Taser article

Not sure why you deleted my article, as tasers are often used by governmental organisations to suppress deceit, Was it too short perhaps? Somenewguy 20:41, 20 November 2007 (EST)

It's cool because TK reposted it, changing the text slightly. Somenewguy 21:07, 20 November 2007 (EST)

Justine, I created this template a while ago when articles about the the constituent members wre not complete. Ed Poor removed the nav box part because it caused too many most wanted pages but after creating the pages TK deleted some of them. However, there are now a full set of complete teams and I would like to reinstate the navbox. Do you think that you could unlock it for me to effect the necessary changes? As you seem to be active just at the moment, thanks. BrianCo 17:26, 3 December 2007 (EST)

Thanks. You can relock it now. BrianCo 17:37, 3 December 2007 (EST)

Thanks for unblocking me I will try to be good in future! Harland1 14:05, 7 December 2007 (EST)

Immigration userbox?

Why was my Pro-Immigration Userbox locked? I had wanted to link the word "immigration" to its article and wasn't able to. -danq 17:54, 7 December 2007 (EST)

Most templates on CP are locked to prevent vandalism. I've changed the template to include the wikilink. Jallen 19:14, 7 December 2007 (EST)

Sorry for asking in the wrong section, but I didn't know where else to turn, so I thought I'd ask an admin. What are the requirements for someone to become an admin. I am an admin on several other wikis like Conservapedia, and would like to help this one grow as well. I know I must first do some 'work' to prove I'm worthy, but I'd like to know from starters what kind of work would that be. Thank you for your time! Jhonson 06:50, 20 March 2008 (EDT)

I wouldn't call contributing to Conservapedia as "work". There's generally no easy 1 - 2 - 3 step process to becoming an admin here but a good guide would be to contribute here regularly by either creating and polishing your own articles or contributing to other articles already started. If you are going to start your own article, make sure it's notable and verifiable.
What other wikis are you admin'ing? Jallen 06:56, 20 March 2008 (EDT)
For starters I rewrote the introduction of New York City. I would also like to start a new article about a game: Gothic II: The Night of the the Raven. It isn't a priority, but it's notable enough IMO. Would it be okay for me to start this article? Jhonson 14:47, 20 March 2008 (EDT)

I was being kind of facetious calling it fun, but you're right. What a way to waste one's time. Nothing better to do, I guess. Jinxmchue 20:16, 23 July 2008 (EDT)

It's sad, now is hard for us to earn your trust. These idiots always block my way while I'm taking notes. --TagoPagdaluhong 20:02, 23 July 2008 (EDT)

One may argue that these people who repeatedly vanda lise Conservapedia on a daily basis do so because they do not have anything "better" to do. They see it as "fun", "rewarding" or a way to "constructively" pass their time while they are either at home, work or at some kind of internet vendor cafe. Whatever their cause, they are definitely not using their brains in a positive or meaningful way, since admins can revert their mess with a couple of clicks. In this rare case, it is sometimes easier to rebuild than to destroy. Jallen 20:22, 23 July 2008 (EDT)

wiki markup

Hi! I'm CTrooper, and I'm a new greenhorn here on Conservapedia. Now, I noticed on your talk page that you understand wiki markup. I assume that means the Templates and HTML coding used on MediaWiki pages. I have a few questions, if you don't mind, of course:

  • Is there a page where I can find what special templates and messages there are for improving articles? I know wikipedia has everything from Wikify and Needs Refs down to Excessive Redlinks or Articles under construction. What resources does conservapedia have to help me in labeling and notifying potential editors?
  • I understand that Conservapedia has policies that allow only administrators (or sysops, I honestly don't know the difference) to upload images. Under what circumstances could an editor like myself perhaps suggest or request need for images on a certain page?
  • LASTLY, Why is it that the referencing of two statements to the same ref will appear on the bottom as 4.1 and 4.2, for instance? Why not as letters?

Well, I thank you ahead for reading. Please respond on my talk page. Thanks!--CTrooper 20:35, 17 August 2008 (EDT)

I'd prefer not to start a ping-pong conversation between talk pages. I'm not particularly sure if Conservapedia had dedicated a page where users may browse through those types of templates. As part of any wiki, it is the job of all editors to help improve and classify articles/templates/images. I have not been as active as in previous months, however, I will be dedicating more time to the project in the next few weeks. In reference to templates such as "excessive redlinks", I like to assume that Conservapedia editors could use initiative to ensure there is no excessive redlinks in a particular article anyway.
Conservapedia and Wikipedia refer to admins as administrators and sysops (I wish that mediawiki could distinguish these rights much more clearly). Due to vandalism, uploading has been disabled by the site owner. You can either request an admin to upload a particular image for you if it is available on the web. Since November 2006, the site owner has been the most prominent modifier of user rights. It is possible to ask him for upload rights, but may only be granted after you have proven yourself to be a good editor. You should aim to edit a variety of articles.
Referencing has remained in numeric structure as we haven't formed any other policy that states otherwise. We have only recently upgraded to mediawiki 1.12.0 so things will take time to come into action. Jallen 21:08, 17 August 2008 (EDT)
Help:Templates is probably the page CTrooper needs. BrianCo 02:28, 18 August 2008 (EDT)

I want you to delete User:NathanG/Pokiston. I am NathanG.. hehe. o.O Nate my opinion matters? 23:18, 30 September 2008 (EDT)

Saw you're on...

How do I create a template here? I would like to create one similar to this, basically replacing the @ symbol with an image to prevent bots from fishing for email addresses while still allowing human editors to read them. If you think this is good idea, could you create an image of the @ symbol in Microsoft Paint or somewhere and upload it? Thanks. Samd 20:18, 8 October 2008 (EDT)

Create a template and save it under template:example . Then use the {{ }} braces in other articles to use the template. I'll have a look around for @ symbols, otherwise you can just use the example at gmail dot com method. This wiki already has a email user feature. Jallen 20:21, 8 October 2008 (EDT)

Thanks! BHarlan 22:52, 20 October 2008 (EDT)

Congratulations, Jallen, you now have oversight privileges! Thanks for all your efforts and insights.--Aschlafly 14:18, 25 October 2008 (EDT)

Jallen, thanks for your alert. NathanG hasn't posted in a few weeks, and he's not a vandal, so let's wait and see if and when he returns before doing anything. Thanks again.--Aschlafly 22:10, 3 November 2008 (EST)

I spoke too soon. You were prescient, and I've just removed NathanG's privileges for now. Thanks for your insight.--Aschlafly 23:22, 3 November 2008 (EST)

Posting on your page since you're the only sysop I see on, I believe is liberal vandalism that should be deleted. Bear Force 1 appears to be an insignificant band named after a particular subset of gay culture. TGeary 21:30, 5 November 2008 (EST)

Template:Disputed is putting articles in Category:Disputed articles, however that category doesn't exist. Would it be possible to either unprotect the template, or remove the category? (the template was protected by you) Thanks, --Interiot 15:01, 14 November 2008 (EST)

Element template

Greetings. I would like to have two fields added to the "Element" template.

  1. A "density" field. I think this is an important attribute to be in the template.
But beware--it seems that another user ("Canuck") disagrees with me, and wants it called "specific gravity", so we have to fight that out. I haven't started that process yet. I think density is right, but he might convince me, so you probably ought to wait and watch.
  1. A "number of stable isotopes" field. This one is harder to justify. The reasoning is that even-numbered elements typically are much more stable (which means they have more stable isotopes) than odd-numbered ones. I would like it to be possible for students to see that. Now the reasons for this are very complicated--it involves spin pairing in quantum mechanics, far beyond the scope of this encyclopedia. However, the fact of the greater stability is appropriate for high-school students, even though the reason is not. And I definitely don't intend to go into the complexities of spin pairing. (Ed Poor just sent me a note about excess complexity. I think we are in agreement on that point.)

But, to explain why it's still worth mentioning here, think about the following example. I learned about Kepler's laws, including the one about ellipses, in junior high school, as I believe most people did. This was years before I knew how to solve the differential equation that says why it is so. I think it is perfectly appropriate for students to learn about qualitative facts when they don't understand the underlying complexity.

ElizabethK 19:25, 20 November 2008 (EST)

I've unlocked the template for you. Jallen 01:10, 21 November 2008 (EST)

Changing the Kings of England Template

I moved the article "Stephen", to "Stephen (king of England)", so that the article "Stephen" can be turned into a disambiguation page in the future. But right now, the template still links to "Stephen". Can you change the template so it links to the new page? --Whizkid 20:08, 6 February 2010 (EST)
