Mormonism and Christianity template

I don't think that Mormonism should be in the Christianity template.

I cite: "There are, however, significant difference between Mormonism and mainstream Protestant denominations. The United Methodist Church has stated that the Mormon faith has "some radically differing doctrine on such matters of belief as the nature and being of God; the nature, origin, and purpose of Jesus Christ; and the nature and way of salvation."[4] The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod goes further, stating that it, "together with the vast majority of Christian denominations in the United States, does not regard the Mormon church as a Christian church."[5], while the Southern Baptist Convention states that the Mormon religion is "not consistent with biblical Christianity." Conservative 17:15, 8 June 2007 (EDT)

  • I appreciate your opinion. However your opinion alone is not reason enough to exclude it, nor do you have some special standing among Sysops to make it so on your word alone. You need to practice what the Bible says. Your unilateral actions, are a mark of disrespect, since you fail to even email other Sysops and discuss it. Surely you can see your actions are anything but Christian? You need to walk the walk, not merely talk the talk. Look more for reasons people agree, rather than seeking to cast others out. Look into your own heart to see why you do this, why you are so disrespectful of others, especially those who hold the same position as you do. That is all that I ask. --Sysop-TK /MyTalk 17:46, 8 June 2007 (EDT)
Thanks for your support TK. Crocoite Talk 18:12, 8 June 2007 (EDT)

Your note to me

You wrote to me regarding whether or not Mormonism should be on the Christianity template the following:

"This is indeed a nutty idea, and I agree with Crocoite. If Conservative truly believes this, I ask him to step forward and reveal himself, along with his theological and educational credentials first. --Sysop-TK /MyTalk"

I view this post as inconsistent and uncordial. It seems to me that if you insist on having my name and credentials because I stated that Mormonism should not be on the Christianity template that you should give your name and credentials for stating that Mormonism be on the Christianity template. You did not due this, however, and I see this as inconsistent. Secondly, as long as someone is abiding by the Conservapedia rules I see no need for insisting that they relinquish the anonymous editing privilidges that are afforded Conservapedia editors especially when you do not reveal your own identity. Please be more cordial to me in the future. Thank you. Conservative 13:44, 10 June 2007 (EDT)

  • As you sow, Conservative, so shall you reap. Asking, behind the scenes, for Rob to remove Mormonism from the template, without emailing the rest of us, at the very least was uncordial, and it certainly was disrespectful. It signaled that you want to do things only your way, and in accordance with your beliefs, without respecting the ideas of others. This has happened many times. I am old enough, and have earned my stripes in the public arena, to have learned one makes better progress, and faster progress, by working well with others. I don't always do it well, but I do endeavor to do so. The fact that most Sysops here get along, is testimony to our constant, never-ending emails to each other, sorting things out, building consensus, dozens per day. If you insist on continuing as you have in the past, and I am not saying here I haven't seen real progress in your manners, then I fear you being marginalized even more than you have been. This in spite of your many, many excellent contributions. One person, no matter how valuable, does not an encyclopedia make. You have my email, and that of other Sysops, I assume. Please join us in dialog, and I know your whole CP experience will be more productive and fun! --Sysop-TK /MyTalk 18:47, 10 June 2007 (EDT)
I don't believe you can show that I have been marginalized. I also don't believe you should state that I have been marginalized without demonstrating it. Also, I don't believe it was right for you to block someone for purely ideological reasons (agreeing with me that Mormonism is not part of Christianity on my user discussion page). I think that Conservapedia should be rules based and that person broke no rules in the slightest. I think that was petty for you to block them. Lastly, I do believe in having as much harmony as possible and therefore I will send you a Christianity-template compromise position shortly. It is my hope that we repair our relationship which is strained at the moment. Conservative 18:57, 10 June 2007 (EDT)

I support Conservative on this point. There is no need to take every single edit to a larger group, and Conservative presumably thought that he was being uncontroversial in asking Rob about changing the template. And when it became obvious that it was controversial, he took it to a wider audience, via Andy's talk page (which is not to say that that was the best page, but that's a separate issue). I also disagree with your comments elsewhere that this is a non-issue. Conservative is correct (and has shown it) that most of Christendom does not consider Mormonism to be part of Christianity. Philip J. Rayment 19:27, 10 June 2007 (EDT)

I only brought it to Andy's discussion page because I was unaware of any "Christianity template discussion page". Conservative 19:29, 10 June 2007 (EDT)

Jerome

I would not like to get into any sort of dispute on the article. I would like to just dialogue and try and understand your position. If I understand things correctly, you are saying that, since Jerome was not baptized until he was an adult (preparing for ordination, most likely), he could not have been raised Catholic from infancy. But I dont see why this should be the case, since infant baptism was not a universal practice in the fifth century. And I don't understand your comment that I "don't know what I'm talking about". I provided a source, a quote from Jerome himself, where he says, in a letter, that he was raised Catholic since his youth. What have I missed? Lostcaesar 10:08, 4 June 2007 (EDT)

Deleting an article

I need help on the methodology for getting an article deleted. I started on the Main Page link to "Articles for Deletion", which led to a new page, but I could find nowhere that showed the present system. I am working on the Jack the Ripper page, and created a new page entitled Ripperologists. I later realized that it was poor style to create a page on the plural of the noun, so I recreated the page as Ripperologist. I will have the latter page redirect to the former, for the time being, but it would be best to have the Ripperologist page deleted completely. Thanks for your time. Boomcoach

Christianity template - compromise position

I think there is a way to keep the Mormons and Christians who believe that Mormonism is not part of Christianity happy in regards to the "Christianity template issue". I think the solution is too not to have a Christianity template. If there is no template there is nothing to argue about. This way here I could create Christianity related articles with no problems to my conscience and not be concerned that a "Christianity template" which I believe is in error would be slapped on the articles I created (I don't want to be an unwilling recruiter of Mormonism vis a vis a template I disagree with). I could also recruit more of my fellow evangelicals or conservatives to create Christianity articles. So far I have recruited 6 people to sign up to Conservapedia and I wish to continue to do this. Lastly, I would like Andy to endorse my compromise and since Andy wants to keep disputes to a minimum and focus our efforts on creating more content I think he should endorse my compromise. Conservative 18:59, 10 June 2007 (EDT)

As I've posted on Andy's talk page, can we keep this debate (of what should be done about the template) in one place, the talk page of the template. A mention here that you have made a compromise proposal there is fine, but don't repeat that proposal on other pages. Philip J. Rayment 19:31, 10 June 2007 (EDT)
  • Without passing any judgement on the finer points, This is supposed to be a "Conservative and Christian friendly" encyclopedia. Debating who is and is not a Christian is more suitable to Tom Major's wiki, or another one, possibly, but not appropriate for Conservapedia, IMO. --Sysop-TK /MyTalk 23:02, 10 June 2007 (EDT)

  • HAHAHAHAHAHA Thats a load of trash. I can count so many blatant lies its not even funny. If you want to know about their RW, talk to TK. He'll tell you what they're really about.Bohdan 20:23, 20 June 2007 (EDT)
  • Except for a few deletions made by management, and deleted from their database, (since at RW users are forced by the authoritarian management to keep everything put on their "talk" pages archived, or the abusive sysops there will do it) everyone is invited to see just how they actually deal with those who don't agree with them, in my own archives there on RW. In those archives you will see exactly what they think about Christians, Conservapedia, vandalism, and even the United States. when it isn't some prepackaged deceitful spiel from one of their most polished and erudite spokespersons. If anyone browses there, be sure to look into not only the talk pages, but the attached archives as well. It will be a learning experience, to be sure. I think there are many good people there. But make no mistake, the "leaders" there (and they claim to have none, but it is readily apparent who calls the shots) encourage a mobocracy that attacks users there who they don't agree with, with never-ending, pounding personal insults, and invective. If you fight back on their terms, they invent rules, make some retro-active, twist them in an attempt to silence you. --Sysop-TK /MyTalk 22:15, 20 June 2007 (EDT)
I find the whole open letter thing to be incredibly patronizing too. "Many other people are willing to help you, too." Like being rescued from a cult! Having said that, that's what I've seen them express in their discussion about this. They actually say that homeschooled kids here should be forcibly removed from their families!!! (To be re-educated Khmer Rouge style no doubt, that's their mentality.) File:User Fox.png Fox (talk|contribs) 22:23, 20 June 2007 (EDT)
The "forcibly remove children from their families" thing was the sickest, most depraved comment I have seen there yet. Bohdan 22:27, 20 June 2007 (EDT)

  • Fine, Conservative. Perhaps a dictionary would help explain what "never" means, and not just to you, because many seem to think they can add whatever footnotes and explanations they feel like. Articles related to Scientology

Hi, I noticed that you seem to have deleted all articles pertaining to the topic of Scientology. This has left me with one question: Why? I think it is important to have an objective, conservative view on the dangerous cult known as Scientology, so I was hoping you could go on the record here offering the rationale for their deletion. As I said, I would very much like to see an educated entry on Scientology discussing its dangers. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by NotSureAboutThisSite (talk)

This is another account I created, which I'm sure will be blocked within minutes, but I just wanted to comment that it is especially difficult for anyone to defend their views here if essentially anything I do results in an immediate block. What is the purpose of this website? To spread knowledge, or just to play an authoritative parenting role over anyone and everyone? It is not conducive to learning at all if anything I say results in an immediate block, preventing me from defending my position or making any follow-up comments. Like I said, I expect this account to be blocked as well just for admitting that my other accounts were blocked. My point is, how can I possibly contribute, or even answer any of the questions that you pose, if I am immediately blocked from writing anything at all?

Lastly, you never answered my original question: why did you delete those articles? Could you answer it please; I'm still curious. And if it wasn't you who deleted those, then it was someone who used your account. I noticed that the articles are now back up again, but if you look at the edit history for the Scientology page, it clearly shows a user by the name "TK" (i.e. you) first deleting all the content, followed by a user also by the name "TK" (again, you) reverting that deletion. http://www.conservapedia.com/index.php?title=Scientology&action=history

Anyways, you've heard my side of it, now go ahead and block this account as well.

TK, I want to apologize to you for my poor contributions to the McCarthy article. I was under the impression that my contributions were of a scholarly quality and not a "personal opinion piece" as you have stated. I have commented in that article and will immediately cease any further additions to the article and revert all of my contributions. I'm a bit tired this evening so if you don't mind, I'll perform the revert of my work tomorrow. Again, please accept my apologies for my sub-standard work. Scorpio 22:03, 26 June 2007 (EDT)

  • Yes, perhaps if you get some rest, the drama level will subside. I said, on the talk page, I was uncomfortable with only two people, making bargains for how the article was going to read. Do you think it "scholarly" to horse-trade what facts, and how they are presented? Perhaps too much has been dealt with via email? Am I missing something? RE: The Socialism article

It seems you have reverted it back to the innacurate and misleading Marx/Engles/Lenin/Stalin picture, and then locked the page to further edits. I must say this saddens me. It truly is "wrong." There was enough discussion about it on the article's talk page. It's quite distressing. I don't support socialism, but I do support accuracy. And the page as it is, with that picture, is innacurate. Hojimachong's page

TK, Did you really mean to...

  • ...make the post you did on Hojimachong's user page rather than his talk page?
  • ...make the post you did as a continuation of the previous sentence (look at the rendered page if you don't understand that)?
  • ...ask him to include the date in his signature, when the signature and the date are two separate items? I don't know what prompted your comment to him, but ~~~ gives just the signature, ~~~~ gives the signature and date, and ~~~~~ gives just the date. Perhaps he accidentally just did ~~~?

Philip J. Rayment 07:33, 30 June 2007 (EDT)

  • I didn't mean to make it a run-on sentence. It was a in-joke, Philip. And all of his posts are now being made without the date, from the ones I have seen. Did you really mean to be a "minder" of his page? :p --Sysop-TK /MyTalk 07:50, 30 June 2007 (EDT)
