Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW) was founded in 1967 by Jan Barry Crumb and several other liberal veterans. [1] It was organized "to voice the growing opposition among returning servicemen and women to the still-raging war in Indochina". [2] John Kerry was one of the chief spokesmen for the VVAW [3] in the early 1970's. [4]

In 1971 the VVAW discussed assassinating seven pro-war Senators.[5]
