Winnipeg is the capital and largest city of Manitoba, a province of Canada. The city is north of the geographical center of North America, and is the "Gateway to the West" in Canada, were the Prairies open up from the Canadian Shield.

  • Winnipeg Jets (NHL) (Hockey) - Until 1996 Winnipeg had an NHL team, however due to economic circumstances and an attempt to grown interest in the Southern United States the team moved to Phoenix, Arizona and become the Phoenix Coyotes. There is however considerable interest to bring NHL Hockey back to Winnipeg. Currently the Manitoba Moose, a minor league team, play in the MTS Centre, where a team may one day return to Winnipeg.
