xkcd is a stick-figure webcomic known for its focus on geek culture, often featuring graphs, diagrams and equations of real life situations.[1] The comic sometimes features profanity. [2] [3] The comic uses a gag-a-day format and is geared toward humor. There is no running plot although there are a few comics which follow a continuation and some recurring characters. Most of the humor is non-political, although a few liberal opinions have been shown.

xkcd has achieved a variety of awards such as being first place in the in the 2007 Weblog Awards, with nearly 3000 more votes than the second place winner, conservative comic Day By Day.[4]
