Yoo Sang-joon is a North Korean Christian who lost his wife and son because of famine. His other son died of thirst as they walked through the desert to reach freedom. Since then, Yoo has worked to help other refugees to escape from Communism. Yoo was arrested in China and it was feared that he would be sent to North Korea but instead because of diplomatic pressure he was sent to South Korea. Refugees who are captured and repatriated to North Korea are forced to watch their children being murdered by Communists.
