A Yucca is a genus of plants of the lily family found in desert regions of the southwestern United States and Mexico. Yuccas usually bear clusters of sword-shaped leaves and white waxy flowers. All depend on the Yucca moth for pollination. The Yucca (Yucca glauca) is the state flower of New Mexico. This plant grows easily in the sand and hot desert climate prevalent in much of New Mexico. The yucca is also called "Lamparas de dios" ("Lamps of God").
