Zagreb
From Conservapedia
Zagreb is the capital and largest city of Croatia.
History
When Germany invaded Yugoslavia in World War II, German forces captured Zagreb in early April 1941. The Axis-allied Independent State of Croatia was declared soon after, with Zagreb as its capital. Zagreb itself, however, was a source of considerable support for Tito and his partisans during the occupation.[1]
When Croatia declared independence from Yugoslavia in 1991, Zagreb was made the new country’s capital. The city was spared from most of the fighting, but did endure several bombing attacks by the Yugoslav Air Force.[2]
On May 2 and 3 in 1995, Zagreb was rocketed by Serbian forces in retaliation for a successful Croatian offensive. Six people, including a policeman, were killed and 205 were wounded.[3][4]
