A bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) is a large plant seed belonging to the family Fabaceae, formerly referred to as Leguminosae. Beans originated in the Americas, but spread to the Old World as a result of the Columbian Exchange.
There are many types of beans, including:
- Kidney beans
- Lima beans
- Navy beans
- Great northern beans
- Pinto beans
