Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is the leader of ISIS (the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria)[1] and self-appointed caliph of the Islamic world. In June, Russia made the claim that al-Baghdadi was killed in an airstrike. In July, the director of the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has stated, "high degree of probability" al-Baghdadi had been killed in a Russian airstrike at the end of May. [2]
