Alcee Hastings is a liberal Democrat United States Representative for Florida's 20th congressional district. He was first elected to the House in 1992 to represent the newly created 23rd district.

Hastings was U.S. District Court judge appointed by President Jimmy Carter for the Southern District of Florida from 1979 to 1989, until he was impeached and removed from office for corruption and perjury. He was only the sixth federal judge to be impeached and removed from office in American history.[1]
