A beret form of hat / headwear, the wearing of which is normally stereotypically associated with the French.

Other "famous" wearers of these include The BEANO comic character Minnie the Minx and star character of classic 1970's BBC sitcom "Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em", Frank Spencer.

Berets are also often associated with the militaries, government agencies, and police forces of countries such as Ireland, Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Colombia, Venezuela, Russia and other Eastern European countries, Israel and other Middle Eastern countries, and some countries of Africa and the Caribbean.
