Bible Gateway is a non-profit web site run by Gospel Communications International.[1] It allows searching of the Bible in numerous languages, as well as searching different versions of the Bible (e.g., Authorised (King James), New International, and New Life versions). Searching can be done by keyword or by passage. Versions of passages from different languages and versions of the Bible can be displayed simultaneously.

Nick Hengeveld created Bible Gateway in 1993 at Calvin College. Subsequently, in 1995, Bible Gateway fell under the management of after Hengeveld moved it there and became their webmaster. Programming for the Bible Gateway is in Perl.

The site continues to expand its coverage by acquiring the rights to English and other language versions of The Holy Bible. Among the rights acquired are those from the International Bible Society and The Lockman Foundation. As of September 11, 2000, Bible Gateway has been run by Gospel Communications International.
