Dr. William Henry "Bill" Cosby, Jr., born July 12, 1937 (age 86), is an American actor and comedian from Philadelphia. He is famous for his role on The Cosby Show, the highest rated show in television at that time, his Jello advertisements, his children's comedy cartoon Fat Albert and his comedy albums.

In 1976, he earned a doctorate in education from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Bill Cosby has been married to Camille Cosby since 1964. They had four daughters and son. Their son was murdered in 1997 and his killer is in prison. One of their daughters died in 2018.

Cosby angered many people when he voiced criticism of the African-American community's acceptance of single-parent households, high crime rates and other problems. He has also said black people in America should not blame white people for the problems black people face today and should take personal responsibility to better themselves.[1] For this reason, Cosby is highly regarded amongst conservatives who feel the same way.[1]

Cosby has been accused of sexual assault and sexual harassment by many women. Cosby has pleaded not guilty to three charges, and his trial in court began June 5, 2017. [2] The first trial ended in a hung jury, and he will be retried in 2018.[3] On April 26, 2018, he was convicted of three counts in relation to drugging and sexually assaulting a woman in 2004.[4]
