Cecil B. DeMille (1881-1959), who is the son of a lay Episcopal minister, has produced grandiose films in Hollywood for nearly five decades. He also founded Paramount Pictures.

DeMille's films included "Samson and Delilah," "The Ten Commandments" and "The Greatest Show on Earth."

At the opening of his most famous film, The Ten Commandments (1956), Cecil B. DeMille declared:

"Man has made 32 million laws since the Commandments were handed down to Moses on Mount Sinai ... but he has never improved on God's law ... They are the charter and guide of human liberty, for there can be no liberty without the law."
