The Center for Democratic Renewal (formerly the National Anti-Klan Network) was founded in in the aftermath of a deadly 1979 confrontation between Communists and Neo-Nazis and is headed by Leonard Zeskind.

In 1985, it changed its name but remained a liberal activist group.

In 1996 it capitalized on distorted statistics to put over the black church-burning hoax of 1996. [1] [2]
