Darren P. White is the incumbent Bernalillo County, New Mexico Sheriff and is serving his second term in the elected position. White is currently seeking the position of U.S. House of Representatives 1st District of New Mexico being vacated by Heather Wilson who is running for U.S. Senate. White is a former Cabinet Secretary for the New Mexico Department of Public Safety and is a nationally known public safety advocate. He has a diverse law enforcement background, having served with both the Albuquerque and Houston police departments, where he was named honor graduate from both academies.

White's honors include the Jefferson Award from the American Institute for Public Service in 1983. In 2006the Aspen Institute recognized White as one of the nation's top 24 young elected officials and selected him for a new fellowship program honoring public leaders.

White served in the United States Army as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division.
