Dr. Phil McGraw (1950 - ) is a TV talk show host and psychologist that hosts his self-titled series since 2002. He gives advice to people who have extreme problems and became famous through appearances on the Oprah Winfrey Show. He started out as a jury selection consultant. He was hired by Oprah Winfrey when she was a defendant in a trial held in Amarillo, Texas because she allegedly defamed the beef industry. After the trial, Winfrey invited him to appear on her show.

During the 2004 USA presidential campaign, he interviewed both major major candidates and asked each whether they ever spanked their children.
