Eastern Europe is a region of Europe that was formerly part of the Soviet sphere of influence. It consists of the following countries:

Czechoslovakia split into the Czech Republic and Slovakia, while Yugoslavia has splintered into several countries. East Germany has been reunited with West Germany. All of the countries above apart from Albania and the former Yugoslavia are now members of the European Union[1].
