Eastern Europe is a region of Europe that consist of Belarus, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Moldova, Romania, Russian Federation, Slovakia and Ukraine .


Eastern Europe may also refer to the region of Europe under the Soviet sphere of influence. It consisted of the following countries:

Czechoslovakia split into the Czech Republic and Slovakia, while Yugoslavia has splintered into several countries. East Germany has been reunited with West Germany. All of the countries above apart from Albania and the former Yugoslavia are now members of the European Union[1].
