The Encyclopédie, ou dictionnaire raisonné des sciences, des arts et des métiers ("Encyclopedia, or a systematic dictionary of the sciences, arts, and crafts") was a French encyclopedia written from the standpoint of the Enlightenment.[1]

The project was led by Denis Diderot and Jean le Rond d'Alembert. It was written by the group of philosophers commonly referred to as Encyclopédistes and published between 1751 and 1772.[2]
