The First Cause is the postulate, popular in most Philosophy and Theology, that, since everything that happens must have a cause, everything is traceable back to a First Cause, usually referred to as God.

Objections

The obvious and immediate criticism is to enquire what caused the First Cause. If the answer is 'nothing', then the Axiom that 'everything needs a cause' has been broken, and is no longer necessary for any event.
