George Norris was a Republican congressman and senator from Nebraska. He was a leader of the Progressive Movement, and by the 1930s was a leading liberal in domestic policy and isolationist in foreign policy.

He is best known for being featured in John Kennedy's Profiles in Courage. He bravely spoke out against Joseph Cannon's power as Speaker of the House, and was a proponent of the New Deal. He became an independent and was defeated for reelection in 1944.
