Iron Man is an individual found in the Marvel Universe. His real name is Anthony "Tony" Stark.

Tony Stark is an Industrialist, Inventor and Scientist. His mind ranks with other genius Superheroes such as Hank "Yellowjacket" Pym and Reed "Mr. Fantastic" Richards. When Tony was younger, he was doing his patriotic duty of supplying foreign nations with arms. However his weapons fell, sadly, into the wrong hands. Amidst the quagmire, none of which was his intention, he was wounded. His body was found by a local doctor known as Ho Yinsen. Yinsen repaired him the best he could. However shrapnel drew ever near to his heart and theatrened his life, so Ho constructed a vest which would use an electromagnet to halt the shrapnel's progression. Tony would be confined to it for the rest of his life.

Ho Yinsen and Tony worked together, combining their genius, and found a way to make the vest more portible. An Iron Man armor was constructed. Gray and dull, clunky, but with massive offensive capabilities. However, before the suit was completed Ho Yinsen found himself between Stark and the rebels who had incapacitated him. Yinsen bravely gave his life so Iron Man could live.

Stark was forever grateful and decided in repentence for Yinsen's sacrifice he would be vigilent in continuing his fight against tyranny and evil.

Tony Stark as Iron Man fought many villains. But his bravest and most patriotic endeavor came during Civil War. Civil War was an event that was started when a gang of upstart heroes foolishly caused Nitro, the man responsible for killing Captain Mar-Vel, to blow up an entire Elementary School full of children. Naturally the heroes were stunned and appauled.

Superhero registration was imposed overnight, and all heroes were expected to work full time for the Government. Tony Stark led the patriotic mission of capturing any that did not comply. Many "capes" (term for those with powers) refused and Tony bravely hunted them down, locking them up without trial so as to avoid any further disturbances. Tony was given full Government support in doing so, and while he had his critics they quickly fell to his awesome might.

Even Spider-Man, who had once selfishly with held his identity to protect himself, complied and revealed himself on national television. Tony Stark reassured him no danger would come of this decision.

Tony continued vigilence in upholding the law was heralded throughout the Marvel Universe. Those who tried to rebel against the Government failed. Some even died, though it was no one of note or importance in the grand scheme of things.

Tony Stark continued, as a hero to prove that dedication, and abiding by the law at all times proves to be the wisest, if not only path to heroism.

Tony Stark is not, however, without his own flaws. He did spend some time as an alcoholic. But with the help of his friends, like Captain America, Thor and Giant Man, he got through it. Because of this, he has been indebted to them for the rest of his life.
