Joe Sixpack is an American-English expression characterizing a type of down-to-earth, typically conservative voter who wears a T-shirt, grabs a sixpack of beer for himself and his buddies, and enjoys watching a ballgame on television on the weekends, contrasting with the typical image of an elitist, fancy-college-graduate liberal. While the expression was used far more frequently during the 1980s than today, it represents a significant amount of the large, working-class, and often sports-fan population.
Examples
- Numerous candidates for office have appealed to this type of voter in recent elections, including Scott Brown in his stunning upset victory for the U.S. Senate seat previously held by Ted Kennedy in Massachusetts.
