Mazie Hirono

Mazie Hirono is the junior United States Senator for Hawaii. Previously she was U.S. Representative for Hawaii's 2nd congressional district. Before that she served as the state's lieutenant governor. She ran for governor in 2002, winning the Democratic party primary but losing to Linda Lingle in the general election. She is the nation's first Buddhist senator.

2012 Senate Election

Hirono was elected to the United States Senate to replace retiring senator Daniel Akaka on November 6, 2012.[1]
