Mieszko I

Mieszko I (930-992) was Duke of Polans and the first historical ruler of Poland. His baptism on 14 April 966 started the Christianisation of Poland and is considered to be the beginning of the history of the Polish state. He was the father of Bolesław the Brave (Polish: Bolesław Chrobry), the first crowned King of Poland. Mieszko was also probably the father of Nordic Queen Sigrid the Haughty and grandfather of her son, Canute the Great the King of England.
