A Jack Russell/Fox Terrier cross kept as a pet.

A pet is an animal that is kept by humans for companionship. The most common pets are dogs and cats, but rabbits, guinea pigs, mice, fish, birds, and other creatures are also commonly kept as pets. For a very small pet, a cage, aquarium, or terrarium may provide enough space to move about, but larger animals need more room.
