Reconstruction is the act of rebuilding something after it has been damaged or destroyed.


Reconstruction was the period after the Civil War in which the South was militarily inhabited by Northern troops. This was to ensure that the Emancipation Proclamation was carried out. Though it was not as effective as hoped, society was rebuilt.
