The Rockford Institute was founded in 1976 by educator John Howard with a mission to "defend and advance the principles of a free society [and] to preserve the institutions of the Christian West: the family, the Church, and the rule of law; private property, free enterprise, and moral discipline; high standards of learning, art, and literature."[1] Its current president is Thomas Fleming, also the editor of the institute's flagship publication Chronicles.
