Sergei Mikhailovich Eisenstein (January 23, 1898 – February 11, 1948) was a Soviet motion picture director, most of whose films were made during the Silent era. He did, however, continue into the era of sound and his most acclaimed film, "Alexander Nevsky", with music by Sergei Prokofiev, was finished in 1938.
