Softball is a game similar to baseball but played with ball that is larger and softer than a baseball.

Softball is popular among adults, often with participation by men and women. Schools typically have a girls softball team in addition to a boys baseball team. However, due to the quotas imposed by the proportionality test implemented pursuant to Title IX, it is common for colleges to eliminate their boys baseball team while keeping a girls softball team.
