Cancer on the Presidency

This goes back to John Dean's "There is a cancer growing on the Presidency" speech [1]. Dean informed Nixon of how details of the coverup were becoming known. The so-called "smoking gun" tape only relates to Nixon's approval of diversion of funds from CREEP to the burglars families for legal fees. Subsequent release of audiotapes and transcripts[2] corroborate in context that Nixon had no prior knowledge; transcript of JUNE 23, 1972 FROM 10:04 TO 11:39 AM, 6 days after the breakin, Nixon & Halderman discuss who did have prior knowledge, who approved the breakin, and Nixon is informed for the first time who's idea it was.
