Tear gas is gas or powder which irritates the eyes[1] so much as to make violent behavior difficult to sustain. It is used in riot control and in military operations.


  1. Tear Gas is a chemical substance that irritates the eyes and mucous membranes with the primary physical effect manifesting in coughing and choking. Tear Gas is used in a variety of ways such as riot control and to force the surrender of fugitives confined to a structure. [1]
