The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test, by Tom Wolfe, is a non-fiction book about a group of hippies who experiment with LSD whilst driving a multicolored bus (reminiscent of the one from The Partridge Family) across the United States. Eventually, they run into trouble with the law and their leader, Ken Kesey encourages them to stop using LSD. Presumably part of his motivation is to please his probation officer and the court, so that he will avoid heavy penalties for his drug offenses.

Wolfe shows the dangers of drugs and the book serves as a warning to avoid drugs.
