The Theosophical Society is an advocate of practices such as meditation, belief in reincarnation, and Eastern mysticism. It was founded in New York in 1875 by Madame H.P. Blavatsky, but moved to London in 1888. Its headquarters were later moved to India. It still exists today but its membership is not as numerous as it used to be.
