About Myself
Ian Smyth Scott

Hello my name is Ian Smyth Scott
I was born in Bulawayo, Rhodesia (NOT SOUTHERN RHODESIA!!!!) in 1966. My family left Rhodesia in 1979 for South Africa. In 1980 when I was 14 Mum and Dad moved to the good old US of A! (Oddly I'm the only one who stayed here!). I graduated from King's College (that's part of the University of London for you non-Commonwealth members) in 1988 and promptly moved back to America. I have been happily married since 1990, with three amazing children.
I am not named after Ian Smith, PM of Rhodesia; I'm named after my grandfather Ian Quatermaine Smyth. When my family left Africa on December 3rd 1980, my family had lived in Africa for exactly 300 years, from 1680 to 1980. My mother's family were Dutch South Africans, Boers or Afrikaners. My father's family were initially English and moved to what was then the Province of New York in 1698 and left for England in 1783 with other Loyalists. In 1901 they moved to Durban, South Africa.
I am a proud US (and British) citizen, and have been a conservative since I gained the right to vote! I am a staunch opponent of illegal immigration, I came here legally and am infuriated by those who spit in the face of legal immgrants by suing Arizona.
