The Washington Wizards are a professional basketball team of the NBA based in Washington DC. The "Wizards" were founded 1961 as the Chicago Packers, and moved to Baltimore as the Baltimore Bullets in 1963. In 1973 they moved to Landover Maryland as the Capital Bullets, but changed their name to the Washington Bullets later that season. In 1995, they announced plans to change the team's name because of concerns over violent crime levels in Washington DC. In 1997 the team was renamed the Wizards and they moved into the Verizon Center. They currently play in the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference at the Verizon Center.[1][2]

The team has won the NBA Championship once, as the Bullets in 1978.[3]
