William Henry Drayton (1742 - 1779) was a South Carolina delegate to the Continental Congress from 1778-1779. Drayton attended school at Oxford, eventually becoming a lawyer; during a 1770 visit to England, he was appointed privy councilor for the Province of South Carolina. However, he was stripped of this position due to his active involvement with those calling for revolution. He served as Chief Justice for South Carolina in 1776; he was elected to the Continental Congress in 1778, and served until his death in 1779.[1]
